Alliance around the World
Since the establishment of the Alliance in 1860, its institutions have been headquartered outside Israel, in Paris.
Until the establishment of the State of Israel, most of the Global Alliance activity was in the domain of education. With the establishment of the State and the immigration of most Jews from Islamic countries to Israel, most Alliance schools around the world were shut down.
True to its historic path, today Alliance continues to attend to a network of schools around the world, and provides for its students an education based on Jewish values, combining Judaic studies with general studies. Aside from its educational work, Alliance sees itself as a federation of Jewish organizations, and functions for them in the realms of welfare, education and Jewish culture.
Today Alliance continues to advance French-language studies and French culture worldwide, and encourages dialogue for the advancement of human rights as well as inter-faith dialogue. Its activities now include studies and training in the domain of Judaism, library services and publishing books that deal with Jewish philosophy.
