MeMizrah Shemesh program
In-depth study of the Jewish tradition of Spain
Memizrach Shemesh is a Beit Midrash for social leadership that develops local leadership among the young people in Israel's geographic and social periphery. It builds a network of social leaders who are committed to a Jewish, traditional, diverse, and inclusive worldview. In line with the spirit of the Jewish tradition and inspired by the heritage of the Sephardic sages.
Fellows commit to studying in a Beit Midrash, where they deepen their understanding of Sephardic Jewish traditions and cultivate a traditional Jewish worldview.
Fellows in the Amitei Tzedek (Partners in Justice) program are selected amongst prominent activists in the social, educational, and public fields. The Social Rabbinic Leadership consists of community Rabbis who are actively involved with worldly matters and work to build connections to tradition across all segments of society.
Outcome Indicators:
- Fellows create change in their immediate sphere of influence and lead initiatives which are aligned with the values of "Kol Israel Haverim", inspired by the heritage of the Sephardic sages.
- Fellows form a prominent public figures and are essential for spreading content in the spirit of "Kol Israel Haverim", inspired by the heritage of Sephardic sages.
- Fellows are a source of inspiration for activities that strengthen connections and build bridges to tradition across all segments of the society.
45 fellows dedicate one day a week to the in-depth study of Sephardic Jewish traditions and create ripple effects of influence within their communities.
