The new generation in the Middle East

Study chapters on Jewish-Israeli issues

The book is intended for:
Upper Division, Pre-Military Preparatory Schools, Batei Midrash, Communities
The program opens a window to Jewish thought on existential issues in light of the ideological challenges posed by the modern era. This is against the backdrop of the influence of European powers in the countries of the Ottoman Empire and the emergence of a new generation in the countries of the East, whose feet are planted in Jewish tradition and whose hands are deeply immersed in the culture of Western countries, a generation that embraces the world in its entirety, for whom the West and the East are intertwined. The program consists of eight thematic episodes, each of which creates a multidimensional encounter between different opinions and positions from within and outside the traditional Beit Midrash. Therefore, the episodes do not have a single unified view that represents Jewish thought in the countries of the East, but rather a variety of voices that confront the challenges of modernity. The program is innovative in the study of Jewish thought: a glimpse into a missing layer, into thinkers and creators such as: Ben Ish Chai, Rabbi Yosef Meshach, Jacques Derrida, Rabbi Ben-Zion Uziel, Rabbi Chaim David Halevi, Rabbi Leon Ashkenazi "Manitou", Vicky Shiran, Sami Michael and many more. The program also brings interesting thought, which can refresh the discussion of the philosophical issues that stand at the center of contemporary Israeli existence.
