Cracking the Glass Ceiling Program

Gender empowerment of school girls in the fields of science, technology, and mathematics.

A gender empowerment program that was designed to increase the number of girls studying science and technology (STEM). The girls are committed to their studies and achieve a highquality Bagrut diploma. The program creates the opportunity for them to pursue higher education, build a career, and achieve both personal and professional fulfillment.

From grade 8 to grade 12, the girls are exposed to the academic world, high-tech companies and the business world. They meet female mentors who serve as inspirational role models, participate in gender and empowerment workshops, and receive support to strengthen their academic achievements, with a focus on mathematics and English. Graduates of the program who complete high school with a high-quality Bagrut diploma report an increased sense of competence and high motivation for career development. Many of the graduates also serve in significant positions in the military or national service, and choose to pursue further academic studies, some in the STEM field.

Outcome Indicators

  • The average Bagrut score in 4-5 units of mathematics and 5 units of English for the program graduates is higher than the national average.
  • The percentage of pupils eligible for an outstanding Bagrut exceeds the national eligibility rate.
  • At least half of the program graduates begin academic studies within 5 years of completing their military service, and over 60% chose to develop a career in the STEM field.
key performance indicators

Over 80% of those who start the program will continue through the 10th grade, and over 80% of them will successfully complete the program in the 12th grade. Over 60% of them are in the STEM subjects track.
