In Israeli social discourse, there is a dichotomous division – religious and secular. This perception does not take into account the many people in Israeli society who define their Jewish identity as traditional. The traditional person is defined as someone whose Jewish identity is partial, symbolic, confused, and determined by personal considerations. We believe that understanding the central value that underlies traditional identity, which is the ability to see every person from Israel as part of the whole, is a value that can bring healing to the divided and polarized Israeli society.
