Alliance Museum: All Israel Friends (1989)

The 'Alliance Museum' is a virtual museum that tells the story of the legacy of communities, partners, students, educators and school principals who took part in the important activities of the Alliance Kol Israel Haverim organization which exists for over 160 years and whose activities focused on the Jewish communities in Asia, Africa and the Balkans.

The museum offers a unique model that combines historical research and documentation with experiential processing of documents, photographs, letters, films, articles and reports. Their combination allows for:

  • Preserving and making heritage accessible: The museum preserves important historical information, including exhibits, photos, documents and stories, and makes it accessible in a variety of ways. Intergenerational connection: The museum serves as a bridge between generations, allowing young and old students to learn about and connect with their family and community heritage and the story of the Jewish people's heritage. It provides a unique educational and cultural experience that encourages pride and belonging.
  • Education and values: The museum conveys important values of education, humanism, equality, and mutual responsibility, which were and still are at the foundation of the operation of the organization 'Alliance: All Israel Friends.' Visitors are invited to learn from and learn from the educational and social experience of the organization, and to be inspired.
  • Wide availability and access: The museum is available from anywhere, at any time, and it allows easy and interesting access to information.
  • Sharing experiences: Museum visitors will be able to share their experiences with family, friends and communities.

Testimonies, stories and memories:

The paucity of publicly accessible knowledge that exists today about the legacy of the Alliance and the extensive work of the communities within it is not in line with the knowledge found in the archives and in the hands of the alumni and their families, who hold quite a few documents, certificates, photos, memories and treasures. The museum promotes the possibility of sharing the valuable information held by the public and integrating it into existing materials. The museum enables the presentation of a complete picture of the national and Zionist heritage, familiarization with this heritage, recognition of its contribution and strengthening the connection and appreciation for it, which will encourage personal and communal pride and capability, strengthen a self-identity that relies on rich and deep sources of inspiration and influence deep processes occurring in Israeli society. Visitors will be able to learn about the social processes and educational attempts of the organization, and be inspired to act according to these values in their personal and professional lives.

Visit to the Alliance Museum:

A visit to the museum is an educational and cultural experience, providing a sense of belonging and pride, providing relevant information, and creating connections to the values of Alliance heritage. The museum features information sheets, photos, documents, exhibits, and films that bring the story to life. Visitors can tour the permanent exhibitions, and visit temporary exhibitions that explore broad themes that bring visitors closer to the characters and the community, and help Israeli society complete the missing part of the story.

Investing in innovation – education through technological means:

The museum tour combines advanced technologies and interactive and meaningful 3D tour experiences, for individual visitors or groups. The information and digital products are open and available to the general public 24/7 in three languages – Hebrew, French and Spanish, and can be viewed from any smart mobile device, home computer and school or community systems. The museum will soon include advanced search options, cross-references and connection to content databases that will allow visitors to explore and deepen the content and messages in an active and engaging way.

Partners and collaborations

The museum promotes collaborations at various levels with heritage centers, museums, archives, and libraries in Israel and around the world. We work in collaboration with the Alliance organization in France and with the Alliance Archives, which is the largest Jewish archive in Europe.
