Melamedim V’lomedim (Teaching and Studying) – Center for Teachers' Professional Development

Melamedim V’lomedim is an innovative center, focused on professional development of in-service teachers, based on principles such as leadership and diversity. Among our programs are:

  • Kanfe Yona (The Wings of the Dove) – Offers placements, mentors and advances teachers of Ethiopian origin in the Israeli educational system. This program runs in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Foundation. In the last three years, 40 new teachers of Ethiopion origin were successfully placed in schools.
  • Morim Movilim (Leading Teachers) – Establishes and mentors communities of leaders among teachers, in both the Arab and Jewish sectors in Jerusalem. Morim Movilim is a three-year funded program from 2016-2019 with a possibility of extending it another two years until 2021 and is run in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Yad Hanadiv Foundation. Teachers go through intensive training to make them pedagogical leaders in their educational institutions. To date, 480 teachers from Jerusalem have undergone this training and the program continues to grow.
  • Teaching Hebrew in East Jerusalem – Kerem Institute trains, mentors and offers placements for educators to teach the Hebrew language in East Jerusalem. This program is run in partnership with the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Foundation.
